Evangelism
To begin new church fellowships, there must be Christians. In order for people to become Christians, they must first be clearly introduced to the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ through the Word of God. Therefore, our ministry will always be centered around spreading the gospel message. We do this in the church and through door-to-door witnessing, street preaching, special community evangelistic services, acts of benevolence, children’s events, artistic evangelistic activities, youth sports, English lessons, Bible clubs, in-home Bible studies, public and private school involvement and other means. The additional ministry opportunities given below are all designed to open doors of opportunity for witnessing and starting churches.
Church Planting
It is our goal to raise up independent churches whenever possible. All other parts of our ministry will be developed so as to allow this main goal to be completed. As a missionary, we will use two approaches to starting new churches. We will evangelize an area to introduce the Gospel to that community. We will train disciples in the community to become church leaders. We will leave our church assembly to nationals who are ready to lead the church as we go to start other churches.
Training Church Leaders
We plan to disciple new converts, training some to be future leaders in the church. We are to commit to faithful men the things which we have been taught. These leaders will in turn take responsibility in their church or of another new church, possibly somewhere else in the world as a missionary. Some of these will assume leadership of the works that we have begun and some will go and begin new works of their own.
Hosting Other Missionaries
Short-term mission trips produce manifold blessings. These trips encourage the visitors who make the trips as well as help the missionary to whom they visit. Furthermore, the effects on those who make the short-term trip are taken back to home churches and further enhance a church’s missions program. We are eager to host short-term mission trips to help individuals and groups in the same way the Lord used these to help us. This method will not only make a lasting impression on the lives of those who visit us, but also will make an eternal impact on a multitude of national souls.
Medical Treatment
Receiving medical attention and treatment is a rarity in remote regions of East Africa. We will have the blessing of providing basic services and medication to aid in what normally are common problems and could be life-threatening when remaining untreated.
Compassion Outreach
Jesus was mostly concerned about the eternal souls of men but He was never unaware of the suffering of the people and because of his compassion, He often cared for their physical needs as well. Our primary aim is to preach the gospel but we too recognize that the opportunity to care for people and showing compassion will also cause the good news to be well received. Some examples of these ministries that we will look to be involved in are helping the malnourished, the orphans and disabled.
Bible Training
As a primary focus, we will be committed to disciple those who are committed to attend training sessions and also demonstrate individual study. Additionally, we have a wonderful connection with a U.S. based Bible Training Institute located in Kaptagat, Kenya. As the opportunities arise and there is a need for structured training for those who feel called into full-time ministry and service, we will support these learners to attend. In fact, this program is essential to effectively reach the masses to which we are called in the great commission.
Jail / Prison Outreach
Although we do not plan for these to be major venues in reaching the lost in our ministry, we do want to take advantage of every opportunity to reach men and women who may be seeking the redemption that only Christ provides. We have seen firsthand the openness of the incarcerated to hear the Word implanted and will seek-out open doors to establish regular evangelistic and discipleship programs. God is always at work and often institutions like these are good avenues to reach the lost.
Primary and Secondary School Ministry
It is a great need for a higher quality of education for those in our communities. In fact, it is common that the majority of youth will only accomplish an eighth grade level of schooling within Kenya. Outside of the urban areas, education levels drop significantly. To raise up young people with a Bible-centered curriculum and in a caring environment is a great opportunity to shape the lives of young people to become Godly men and women. We will seek to establish private schools wherever circumstances allow. In addition, it will be our privilege to work closely with the public school system in our communities as they allow. Praise be to God that most schools allow and encourage the teaching of the Holy Bible in the classroom setting. We will use every opportunity to be involved with the schools as possible.
